Why most agencies will not publish a price

The honest reason first. Scope here varies more than in almost any comparable service: a 60-page site with clean, consistent information is a different job from a 5,000-page platform with a migration behind it and three languages. O8's published answer to this exact question says precisely that, and it is not a dodge.

A published number in that situation is wrong for most people reading it. Too high for the small end, which drives away work the firm would happily take, and too low for the large end, which starts every serious conversation with an apology. Agencies that try publishing often stop for that reason, not a cynical one.

The weaker reason exists too. A price you have to ask for can be set after the seller has seen your company, your budget and how badly you want it. Both reasons produce the same page, which is why the practice reads worse than it often is.

We publish because our scope does not vary. Twenty-five questions, five assistants, run twice, is the same work for every buyer we take. That is a property of a narrow product rather than a virtue, and an agency doing bespoke work does not have that luxury.

What happens when you do not publish

This is worth reading even if you never buy anything from anyone. We assumed the risk of hiding your price was that assistants would skip you. It is not. The risk is that they quote a number for you anyway, and it is not yours. We found two examples while fact-checking this page.

In one run an assistant told us O8 Agency sells a one-off audit "for a flat, one-time price of $1,500". We opened O8's own site. There is no price on it anywhere, and their published answer to the pricing question says the opposite: that pricing is scoped after an assessment. The $1,500 appears to have been picked up from third-party roundups. It is now the number a buyer hears first, and O8 never said it.

The second is sharper, because the question itself was about published pricing. An assistant named AI Advantage Agency as a company that publishes its pricing openly. We opened their site and found no prices at all. So a company was recommended on the strength of a property it does not have, and a buyer going to look for the number would arrive expecting one.

Neither is a one-off. We watched the same thing happen inside a client's audit last week, where the assistants quoted a confident "$200/month" for a company whose own site publishes nothing at all.

All three run the same way. When you publish nothing, something else fills the space: a roundup, an estimate, an old figure from a review post. The number becomes yours in the reader's mind and you had no say in it, no way to know it happened, and no way to correct it. That is worse than a price that scares off some buyers, and invisible unless you go looking.

Our prices, in full

No second version of this list. It is what a buyer sees on the home page, and what everybody pays.

The free check · $0

25 real buyer questions from your niche, on ChatGPT. Report emailed within the hour, 7am to 5pm Central. No card, nothing to cancel.

The full audit · $500, one time

25 questions across 5 assistants, run twice. 125 checks and 250 stored answers, emailed the next day. Every figure opens the answer it came from.

The Answer Watch · $399 a month

Optional. The same questions re-run on a schedule so you can see what moved. $300 a month if you add it when you buy the audit.

What none of those prices buys is a promise. We do not promise a ranking, a citation, a mention rate, traffic, leads or revenue, and no date for any of them. What we guarantee is that every figure in a report opens the stored, dated answer it was counted from, and that if one does not open and we cannot restore it within five business days, the report is free.

How to get a real number out of anyone

For the four companies above that publish nothing, and for the rest of the category. None of this requires speaking to anybody.

  • Ask for a range, not a quote. "What has a typical engagement cost?" is harder to deflect than "what do you charge?"
  • Ask what the cheapest thing they sell is, and whether anyone buys it on its own.
  • Ask what would put you at the expensive end, which tells you what really drives their scoping.
  • Ask for the number in writing before any assessment, even loosely. A provider who cannot approximate before scoping usually cannot after it.
  • Ask what happens to the price if you only want the measurement and none of the work.

The last one matters most, because measuring and doing are separable. Plenty of buyers want to know where they stand and have no intention of outsourcing the writing, and an agency priced for the full engagement often has nothing to sell that person. That is a fine answer, and better than a number invented on the spot.

Questions this page gets asked

Which AI SEO agencies publish their pricing openly?
Checked on their own sites on 23 August 2026: AnswerHalo, AnswerManiac, Ekamoira, Attributa, Discovered Labs and Ranked AI all publish full prices, as does the tool Arvow. Omniscient Digital publishes a floor of $10,000 a month. Onely, iPullRank, O8 Agency and AI Advantage Agency publish nothing.
How much does AI visibility work cost?
Published figures we verified run from $0 for a free check to $45,000 for a fixed project, with monthly plans between $99 and $15,995. A one-time audit is the cheapest real entry point. Ours is $500. Treat any single quoted average with suspicion, because the spread is genuine.
Why do most AI SEO agencies hide their pricing?
Usually because scope varies enormously and a published number would be wrong for most inquiries. A small site and a large multi-language platform are different jobs. The weaker reason is that a price you have to ask for lets the seller set it after seeing your budget, and both reasons look identical from outside.
What should I ask an agency that will not give me a price?
Ask what a typical engagement has cost rather than what they charge, ask what the cheapest thing they sell is, and ask what would put you at the expensive end. Get the range in writing before any assessment. A provider who cannot approximate beforehand rarely gets more precise afterwards.
